Our blog is a collection of articles on weddings and engagement sessions we love, lessons we've learned along the way, vendors we adore, and Ottawa locations we love to go back to!
We have so many pictures of this gorgeous couple just laughing and goofing off. Still, in between, we were able to capture some pretty romantic ones as well. Have to be honest, we’re super psyched to be photographing their wedding. We love these guys, and we can't wait for them to tie the knot in Spain this fall!!
During the 2020 wedding season, we got to see more dogs at weddings than we have in past seasons. This is likely because most weddings were held outdoors or were quite intimate and were held mostly in our couples' backyard. As we hope to see more adorable doggies at weddings this coming season, we thought we'd share some tips on including your precious fur babies on your wedding day celebration!
Last year, before all this craziness happened, we had a blast photographing Sophia and Brendan’s engagement photos. I remember this day being unusually warm, but we were blessed with fresh snow and some flurries, which totally made for some romantic scenes. Sophia and Brendan were awesome to photograph! They were game to pretty much anything, including running ankle-deep in the snow and dancing in public. We did end up going to the pub after this shoot for some indoor shots (we’ll show those scenes in a separate blog). Check out how adorable these two are together!
As we look to 2021, we are hopeful that it will be a hundred-folds better than 2020. As always, we want to say thank you for your continued support. We cannot express enough how grateful we are to have such wonderful couples and industry peers who inspire us with their resilience during these tough times.
Let us say this unequivocally: We at Mocha Tree Studios are standing in solidarity with the Floyd family, communities in Canada, in the United States and communities across the globe to say “NO” to hate crimes and genocide carried out against black people. We commit to working hard to make the world a better place alongside diverse voices, perspectives, colours and creeds.
Another fantastic and incredibly busy year for us here at Mocha Tree Studios. In 2019, we went to some amazing venues for the first time, including Adelina and Manoir de la Foret in Gatineau and the Grand Hotel in Carleton Place. We’ve taken on another videographer with Ben coming on board making us now five in the Studio, including our editor Brianna! This year, MTS also became a parent company to OhSNAPS Photo Booth - our fun and modern solution to your photo booth needs!
Taking photos is one of the best ways to capture moments. People love to document where they are, who they are with, and of course, how much fun they are having. Weddings are one of those events where everyone can let loose, imbibe a bit of alcohol, and are definitely more willing to have their photos taken. Add silly props to this, and they're pretty much guaranteed to have an excellent time. Below are five reasons you NEED a photo booth at your wedding!
How can we not fall in love with this wedding? Laura and Jackson's big day was truly one for the books for us here at Mocha Tree Studios.
Laura and Jackson's wedding day began with us photographing them at their getting ready locations in Wakefield, Quebec. As many of you know, Wakefield is such a dreamy little town, and it was a perfect setting for these two to start their big day. With five bridesmaids and five groomsmen, the energy was high, and the shenanigans were afoot! Theirs is the kind of wedding party we would wish for every couple: everyone was super sweet and helpful, but also really, really fun to be around! Just check out those photos of the ladies on the bed with champagne glasses on hand!
Wedding planning can be overwhelming, no doubt about that! There are so many moving pieces throughout the planning stage and throughout the wedding day itself that choosing your wedding vendors can be a daunting task! After all, these will be the people that you have to trust to make your wedding vision a reality; these will be the people who will be accompanying you in the months ahead as you plan your big day.
As of the writing of this blog, the Omicron variant is surging in Ottawa. Our New Year's Eve wedding (yesterday) was already affected. We will definitely have another unpredictable, anxiety-ridden first few months of 2022. We are hopeful that this is only the beginning of Covid becoming endemic. We will have to live with the virus; people need to get their vaccines and boosters. We need to look out for each other.
A big thank you to our couples, particularly those who tied the knot in 2021 and those still planning their 2022 wedding with trepidation!!! Your patience these past six months has been an invaluable source of support and inspiration. We are so very grateful for your friendship - with some of you we've known for several years now. We appreciate all the love and trust you've bestowed on us during some of the most amazing and, no doubt, hectic milestones of your lives. There are not enough words to convey our gratitude to you all.
